An outstanding instrument from January of 1960, this Heckel concert bassoon is from the 10000 series (#10329) and its current condition is excellent and easy to play. The pads which have been changed over the years, look almost new and after checking carefully, they are sealing very well. Key work, springs and overall action is top notch with corks and felts all in fine condition. The bore is superb, shines like a mirror and as you can see in the photos, the wood is in great condition. It comes with two original bocals in mint condition and there are two more Heckel bocals stored away with the owner which can be sold separately or together with this instrument. This particular Heckel plays with spot-on intonation, has such a noticeably gorgeous sound, even in all registers and voices beautifully in any dynamic. It plays effortlessly with lots of power, projection, depth, sweetness and is a real joy to play. Simply put, it’s a very special instrument and a great player.
