Mexican beaded lizard/super black horridum. Carnivorous and venomous so gardening gloves and careful handling recommended. Loves to soak, climb, burrow for large stretches of the day, and hiss at approach with an interesting forked tongue. Hibernates in winter. Young as indicated by prominent yellow spotting. Gender unknown.
Feeds every week/two on a diet recommended by a zoologist of 1 egg (he laps up with his split tongue) 2 quail eggs and frozen small rats or mice (2-3). Eats Repashy Meat Pie as well. I’ve also cooked chicken for him and used canned chicken intended for dogs as long as it doesn’t contain dog supplements.
Easy to take care of due to occasional feeding but not the best handling pet. Definitely fascinating to watch. Need to rehome because I cannot have pets due to landlord restrictions. Selling below what I paid at the LA Reptile Expo where I bought him in January 2023.
